Well first, tell us a little bit about yourself...
I'm Wei Bin from Sembawang turning 18 this year, currently studying in LASALLE College of the Arts.

What was the driving force behind the decision to enter an art institution?
I have a passion for drawing since young and design in secondary school, just come natural to me.

When did you started riding?
When I was just 13. Trying to do wheelie with mongoose and slowly progress on to haro X0, light street and converting to flatland when I was 15.

How did you get into riding?
Bought a second hand bmx from friend and just wanted to go EXTREME with it.

What was your first bike?
Old school mongoose

How often do you ride?
I used to ride up to 5 times a week during my secondary school holidays, but now probably once a week at most. Gotta work and some other interest I gotta keep up with.

Do you ride contests?
Only like twice or thrice. I'm not a competitive rider. During contest, I will tend to get very nervous and cannot even grab my bar properly.

What can you remember most about that first show?
Nervous..First time meeting so many flatlanders.

What was your biggest success?
To do badly in my O's and still manage to get into the school which I wanted.

Who has influenced you the most in riding?
Ashler lwi because he send me this interview. (So Tiong chai, Happy now SHIFU?)

Tell us more about your bike and the set up and why you like it that way?
I'm currently riding a WTP DIV 2007 tt 19.3. My previous psychonnecta was too short for me, although I'm not tall(174), I felt cramp when trying to jump over top tube. With the new street/flatland setup. I can be more versatile, able to play Street and Flatland with the same bike.

Where do you ride?
In a tiny spot in Singapore called Sembawang when you can ride from one end to the other end in 15 mins. Usually I rode opposite my house at multi storey carpark. YES! Typical Flatlander.

What has been your worst injury or injuries?
All minor so far, dislocated little finger.. Bar jab on chest and waist.. Knee smash on ground.. Tyre burn.. Sprain.. All minor..

Do you listen to music when you ride? Does the music you listen to influence you to be creative and wild in your riding?
Definitely. I have many different genre in my mp3. Rock/Metal makes me fast. Trance make me feel cool. Old school makes me wanna put down my bike and take a puff.

What's the riding scene like in your area?
All street rider, 2 Flatlanders which include me and an old school rider called damon(seldom ride). Hell lots of basketball courts and sheltered tiles area. There is gambas dirt ramp and some street course.

Imagine you could make a flatland world tour, which 5 places would you like to visit for riding and why?
1.Amsterdam - smoke weed and megaspin at the same time.
2.Finland - Lots of rider, and death/thrash/whatever metal freak.
3.Japan - Many professional rider and chicks who moan in high pitch.
4.Hawaii - Sometimes beach boys gets more attention than rider.
5.Thailand - Friendly rider, cheap clothing and dreadlocks.


What goals would you like to reach in your riding?
Be as good as possible. Who doesn't want that? The touring trip might just come true one day!

Which trick/combo are you working on at the moment?
360 and some HANG-5 links.

What is your most favorite trick at the moment?
G-Turn.

What is your job / what do you study?
Currently working as a vendor/commissioning engineer in a private company, waiting for august to start school in arts studies and hopefully communication designs.

What are your hobbies besides flatland and do they influence your way of riding?
Photography, guitar, art..
All related to art include flatland. Guitar/music determined my trick speed. The others doesn't really influence that much.
